Robert R. Nix, II has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of real estate law and litigation. Robert was a co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.
Practice Areas
Bio
Robert focuses his practice on real estate law, commercial law, construction law and commercial litigation, particularly as they apply to commercial real estate development, finance and leasing. His clients include private developers, cities with private/public mixed-use development projects, construction contractors and subcontractors and lending institutions. Robert’s work includes assisting in forming specialized limited partnership and limited liability companies to develop, own and lease commercial properties, including with the participation of both institutional and private investment groups.
Additional components of Robert’s practice include appearing as an expert witness in real estate litigation cases, and serving as a court-appointed Master and specially selected arbitrator in complex real estate litigation matters.
Robert serves as an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University’s Law School, and is a regular lecturer for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education at the University of Michigan, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the Homeward Bound seminar series for the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and has published materials in connection with such seminars. He is also serving as the Northville Township Supervisor.
Robert is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World, as well as in Chambers USA – America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America®, Woodward/White, and in dbusiness Magazine as one of Detroit’s “Top Lawyers.” He has also been named one of the “Top 10 Super Lawyers” by Thomson Reuters, publishers of “Michigan Super Lawyers”.
Robert is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, and various special committees within such organizations. He has served as chairperson of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and chairman of the Investment Entity Committee of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He is a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and currently serves as its State Chair for Michigan. He is also a member of the Michigan Land Title Standards Committee of the State Bar of Michigan which is involved in promulgating land title standards relied upon by the title industry, practitioners and Michigan courts.
Robert is a graduate of the Wayne State University Law School and Eastern Michigan University.
