Remembering Longtime Kerr Russell Litigator and Friend, William A. Sankbeil

November 21, 2023

Bill was a member of the Kerr Russell family for 37 years until he retired in 2013. He was a highly regarded litigator of national reputation, practicing primarily in the areas of complex litigation and antitrust. Bill was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a recipient of the FBA’s Cook-Friedman Civility Award, and a leader in the ABA’s Antitrust Section for many years. He served on the Firm’s Executive Committee for decades.

Bill demanded excellence of himself and others but was the first in the room to remind us that we all need mentoring along the way. He was a mentor to many at Kerr Russell and beyond, not only with respect to the mechanics of legal practice (analysis, strategy, technique), but also in emphasizing that success as a lawyer requires a commitment to professionalism, integrity, credibility, and service.

Bill will be dearly missed as a member of the bar, as a Kerr Russell colleague and leader, and as a friend.
